It’s July 25th and I have officially read 40 books, which was the number of books for my Goodreads 2020 Challenge. I didn’t even know I was that close until I was updating my profile yesterday and noticed I was on my 39th book. I quickly made it my goal to finish my book before the end of the day. It was so exciting to reach my goal so early in the year! This is my first full year actually tracking my reading on Goodreads and I love looking back on my mini-reviews, my ratings, and seeing the stats on the books I read.
Many of you may be asking why I set my reading goal to only 40 books?
Last year I started tracking my reading half way through the year and I reached 26ish books. I didn’t want to set an outrageous goal that wouldn’t be attainable. I’m someone who will really get down on myself if I don’t hit my goal and I didn’t want to cause my future self any stress at the end of the year. That’s why I chose 40, It was double what I read the half of last year and seemed doable. Clearly my reading has picked up a bit, no thanks to Coronavirus and my crazy reading this month.
While my reading challenge is officially completed, I will still continue to read! Maybe I will set another personal goal to read 50? Who knows! All I know is that in 206 days I read 40 books! Here is to another 40 😀
What are your reading goals for the year? Do you like setting a reading challenge? Do challenges like this stress you out?
