End Of The Year Book Survey // 2020

2020 has obviously been a tricky year for everyone in the world. I know we are all trying not to dwell on the shit storm of a year, so I thought I would talk about the positive things I did this year!

To start off, this was my first full year tracking my reading on Goodreads and I even reaching my reading goal challenge. Of course I wished that I read more but I wanted to make a realistic goal and I am so glad that I did. I read 56 books in 2020 and my goal was only 40, I am pretty happy with myself!

While I read a decent amount of books I found that I really honed in on the types of books that I like. I tried to venture out of my little reading bubble and explored other genres but I need to do more of this next year too.

I haven’t been as consistent in my book blog but I am happy to have my little corner of the internet to write and express my love for books so I want to thank you everyone who reads this and follows my reading journey. Check out my bookstagram where I post more regularly.

Ok now it’s time to get into the end of the year book survey!

Book Questions

Q: Number of Books You Read

I read 56 books which is really good for me considering I also work full time and I am also in school part time as well. Since today is New Year’s Eve this is the official count for 2020 lol.

Q: Number of Re-Reads

This might not be shocking if you know me but I never re read a book. I was very close to rereading the twilight saga before the new book came out but I didn’t. I was worried it would make me dislike the series after all these years.

Q: Genre You Read The Most From

Contemporary for sure! I have read a lot of contemporary most of my life so this will likely always be my answer lol.

Q: Best Book You Read In 2020

This is so hard. I feel like I read a lot of good books this year. It would probably have to be Radio Silence by Alice Oseman. It was just one that I picked up and didn’t want to put down. It left me with a lasting impression as well. So many feels!

Q: Book You Were Excited About & Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn’t

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. I have loved so many of her other books and thought I would really enjoy this one as well. I struggled getting through it. I couldn’t get over how much of a retelling it was.

Q: Most Surprising Book You Read

I bought the series Heartstopper by Alice Oseman on a whim. I saw people posting about it on bookstagram and I loved the art but when I got the books I loved the story even more. I never expected to fall in love with these characters as much as I did.

Q: Book You “Pushed” The Most People To Read (And They Did)?

I push most books that I read lol. The only book I pushed a coworker to read was My Dark Vanessa.

Q: Best Series You Started in 2020?

The Golden Sheep by Kaori Ozaki. This was a beautiful manga that I bought without thinking much of it and I loved the story a lot.

Q: Best Sequel of 2020?

One of Us Is Next by Karen McManus. I loved this sequel almost more then the first one.

Q: Best Series Ender of 2020?

I didn’t read many series in 2020 so I don’t think I have an answer for this one.

Q: Favorite new author you discovered in 2020?

Alice Oseman hands down! She is amazing in all ways lol.

Q: Best book from a genre you don’t typically read/was out of your comfort zone?

I didn’t love love any books that I read from outside my genre. I did start reading more thrillers though and Magpie Murders would have to be a contender for this one.

Q: Favorite cover of a book you read in 2020?

I’m Thinking Of Ending Things by Iain Reid.

Q: Most memorable character of 2020?

Frances from Radio Silence.

Q: Most Thought-Provoking/ Life-Changing Book of 2020?

Write Naked. It’s a book about exploring your creative side and the journey of writing and I found it well written and very inspiring.

Q: Shortest & Longest Book You Read In 2020?

Shortest- Heartstopper: Become Human by Alice Oseman

Longest- Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King

Blogging / Bookish Life Questions

Q: New favorite book blog/Bookstagram/Youtube channel you discovered in 2020

Ariel Bissett. I really loved her videos this year and was looking forward to seeing her life videos too.

Q: Favorite post you wrote in 2020?

I didn’t write as many as I wanted to this year but my favourite would have to be 5 Feet Apart Movie Adaptation.

Q: Favorite bookish related photo you took in 2020?

Q: Most challenging thing about blogging or your reading life this year?

I don’t even know where to begin lol. I am a very moody reader and blogger so if I am struggling with my mental health then my reading and blogging really take a hit. This year was no exception for that but I am glad that I have always come back to my love for books and the community.

Q: Most Popular Post This Year On Your Blog (whether it be by comments or views)?

This was my most popular post in 2020. For some reason you all love to read about my suffering while camping lol.

Q: Post You Wished Got A Little More Love?

My Dark Vanessa Book Review

Q: Did you complete any reading challenges or goals that you had set for yourself at the beginning of this year?

I completed my Goodreads goal for 2020 of 40 books which I am really proud of. You can read about it here!

I hope you all enjoyed this reading wrap up of 2020. I can’t wait to read more in 20201 and share all of the experiences with you. Stay safe and healthy and I wish you all an amazing 2021.
